UrbanHeatATL is a multi-partner community science initiative mapping heat islands in Metro Atlanta.

Community members in Atlanta, along with students from Georgia Tech and Spelman College, are collecting data using small, mobile temperature sensors to help map urban heat islands in Atlanta, especially as these urban heat islands relate to the impact of climate change on frontline communities.

Our Partners

UrbanHeatATL is co-lead by Dr. Na’Taki Osborne-Jelks and Dr. Kim Cobb. Key partners include the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance, Spelman College Environmental and Health Sciences Program, Georgia Tech Urban Climate Lab, the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain, and the Global Change Program.
